Kuresaari Saarenmaalla. Viro viettää itsenäisyyspäiväänsä 24. helmikuuta. Nyt juhlitaan 99. syntymäpäivää. Vuoden kuluttua Virossa juhlitaan pyöreitä vuosia. Silloin Viron tasavalta täyttää sata vuotta. Minulle Viro on hyvin tärkeä maa ja syitä on monia. Ihmiset . Tunnen lukuisia sydämellisiä, lämpimiä, syvällisiä ja huumorintajuisia virolaisia. Virolainen halaa, kun tapaa ystävän. Hän nauraa silmät säteillen ja osoittaa, miten iloinen on tapaamisesta. Virolainen tanssii ja laulaa. Viiden vuoden välein järjestettävät laulu- ja tanssijuhlat Tallinnassa on valtava juhla, josta virolaiset sanovat, että muut eivät voi edes ymmärtää, miten merkityksellisiä ne ovat virolaisille. Kuorot marssivat tunteja kestävässä kulkueessa keskustasta laululavalle kuoroasut päällä. Laululavalle tuodaan soihtu, joka nostetaan soihtutelineeseen ja ilmapallot lentävät pitkin taivasta. Pieni laulaja palaamassa Tallinnan laulujuhlilta Saarenmaalle 2014. Tuhannet kuorolaiset nousevat laululavalle...

January If you don't have your own cat, you can go to the cat coffee shop or to The Cat's Republic. They are great places. I dont't have my own cat, but as a kid I had them always, sometimes many. I learn to know how crazy , clever , stubborn , independent, wild , wise and sweet they are. When I nowadays want to meet a cat I go to the a coffee shop. In Finland we have two very nice cat coffee shops, one in Helsinki and one in Tampere. Sometimes I travel to Tallinn where there is a cat coffee shop or to Saint Petersburg where you'll find a  whole Cat's Republic. I take my camera with me and ask kindly the cats sit down and be my models when I take photos. But what they do: they turn  their backs or go to sleep under a chair or into a basket. I have to be patient and wait for a long time to get a picture where the cat has his eyes open. If I'm very lucky I'll get a smile from a cat. Then I'm very happy. To  share my joy wit...

The expeditions lasted for three centuries between 750 and 1100 centuries. The Viking civilization was largely influences by sea and they had excellent ship-building skills, this we know. The reason is history. Tallinn is a medieval city and has a very beautiful but quite small Old Town. Once it was surrounded by walls and there are still quite many old towers from the middle age. The Old Town is beautiful in all times of the year. Just now the autumn colors make it colorful, bright and charming even the weather can be cloudy and grey. Tallinn was founded in 1248, but the earliest human settlements are over 5,000 years old. So it is one of the oldest capital cities of Northern Europe. The exhibition shows how wealthy women dressed on-words from 1850th. A hat. The exhibition is based on  the collection of Alexandre Vassiliev . He is fashion historian, stage designer and collector of Russian origin. There is foundation under his name. The foundation owns nearly 10 000 historical costume from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Two years  ago at Kumu there was a very good exhibition of Art deco style, also from his collection. The exhibition Poetry and Spleen at the contemporary art museum Kumu in Tallinn Estonia consists 50 costumes and more than 150 accessories and photos. Rataskaevu 16. Kuvat: Sirpa Pääkkönen Kahvilat ja ravintolat ovat erinomainen syy matkustaa Viroon. Parissakymmenessä vuodessa Tallinnasta on tullut mainio matkailukaupunki kahvilaturistille, koska uusia kivoja paikkoja voi bongata koko ajan. Kahviloiden sisustus on usein hauska. Historiallisia miljöitä ei peitetä, vaan ne luovat tunnelmaa. Tiiliseinät näkyvät ja puulattiat narskuvat. Vanhimmat rakennukset ovat peräisin keskiajalta. Varsinkin talvella ja pimeällä joka paikassa, viiniputiikkia myöten, palavat elävät kynttilät tuomassa henkäyksen romantiikkaa. Kalamaja on uusi trendialue, johon syntyy koko ajan ravintoloita ja uusia pikkuputiikkeja. Myös kauniilla   Kadriorgin puistoalueella on useita hyviä ravintoloita. Jälkiruoka Leib-ravintolassa. Virossa on vuodesta 2008 lähtien julkaistu lista maan viidestäkymmenestä parhaasta ravintolasta. Uusi lista julkaistiin marraskuun lopussa. Suomessa piparkakkutalon tekeminen on mieluista puuhaa lapsille. Kuvat: Sirpa Pääkkönen Söitkö jouluna piparkakun? Niin söi moni muukin. Suomalaiskodeissa leivottiin ja rakennettiin ennen joulua taas myös piparkakkutaloja. Niiden rakennusmestareina toimivat usein lapset. Tallinnassa piparkakkuideaa on kehitetty näyttelyksi saakka. Tallinnan Design- ja arkkitehtuurigalleriassa on esillä piparkakkunäyttely. Piparkakkutaikinasta on muotoiltu värikkäästi koristeltuja taideteoksia. Näyttelyssä on esimerkiksi piparkakkukatedraali, istuva Buddha, keinuhevonen, juna vetureineen, mukaelma kivikautisesta Willendorfin Venus -veistoksesta ja Pisan kalteva torni. Näyttelyyn osallistuu yli sata taiteilijaa, ja mukana on taiteilijoita sekä Suomesta että Unkarista, kertoo piparkoogimaania.ee  –sivusto.
